Give Bristol Palin a break.
As a teenager, she fell for a guy, had unprotected sex which resulted in a pregnancy, decided to keep the baby and try for marriage with said guy.
I’ve seen more understanding in the media for murderers and girlfriend beaters.
Here are some of the headlines I've seen about the break up:
Bristol Palin splits with ‘white trash’ Levi Johnston (Boston Herald)
OMG! Bristol and Levi are dunzo! (Christian Science Monitor - yeah I know)
Bristol Palin, fiance Levi Johnston split. Surprised? (LA Times)
Bristol Palin and Her Baby Daddy Break Up (E Online)
Bristol Palin Dumps Sex on Skates! (New York Magazine)
Put yourself in her shoes. Her mom, out of left field, ran for vice president while she, a pregnant teen, was shoved into the international spotlight wearing maternity clothes and then shoved back to the family compound to avoid embarrassing the campaign.
Governor Sarah Palin, sadly, used her own daughter to promote her flawed so called family values agenda. The abstinence only education that Governor Palin touts is totally ridiculous, but it’s unfair that Bristol Palin will be lampooned for the governor’s inadequacies both as a reasonable thinker and as a mother.
You can choose your Vice President, but you can’t choose your mother.
And hopefully Bristol will be a better mother to her son and empower him with sex education so that he will have his first child when he is ready.

This at the same time the Pope is in Africa saying,
"that condoms were not the answer in the continent's fight against HIV....
He has said that the Roman Catholic Church is in the forefront of the battle against AIDS. The Vatican encourages sexual abstinence to fight the spread of the disease.
"You can't resolve it with the distribution of condoms," the pope told reporters aboard the Alitalia plane headed to Yaounde, Cameroon, where he will begin a seven-day pilgrimage on the continent. "On the contrary, it increases the problem."

The Pope is right, condoms won't solve the problem, but they sure would help and as long as he and other religious leaders continue to cling to abstinence-only ideas and education the problem is only going to get worse.
Dirk, of course it was promoting something: the pro Life agenda.
If any liberal did that interview with Couric he/she also would be a buffoon.
What newspaper do you read? WHAT NEWSPAPER DO YOU READ?
I will answer that question in person only.
Wow, I didn't know that they'd broken up, but I'm in Morocco.
Hopefully Bristol will grow up learning from her mistakes and the mistakes of her mother. Most mothers I've spoken to agreed that they wouldn't have put their daughters in that position and would have foregone going into the limelight to avoid putting their daughter in that position.
I can't believe that anyone who has ever been a teenager could advocate abstinence only sex education - it's just so unlikely that it would work.
While Gov. Palin was not as sharp a candidate as Sen. Biden, who had been running for president for a year, like Sens. Obama and McCain, I thought the numerous attacks on Palin and her family were grossly unfair. Most children born to teen mothers do not have married parents. Bristol and Levi were normal that way, and they hardly deserved the ridicule they received. Know any teen moms? I do. They didn't want to be on Page One, either.
